Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #60

Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #60 is an organization dedicated to providing a better standard of living for workers employed in the plumbing, pipefitting and air conditioning industry through top wages, great benefits and excellent training programs.  As the rebuilding effort in the New Orleans area is beginning and will continue for many years to come, we are seeking qualified journeypersons who are interested in improving their livelihood.  Through quality craftsmanship and team-orientated contractors we take pride in improving the plumbing, pipefitting and air conditioning industry.

Requirements for Journeyman Membership

To qualify as a journeyperson, an applicant must have a minimum of five (5) years of verifiable work experience in the mechanical industry.  Applicants may also be required to provide any or all of the following:

1. Employer payroll records

2. W-2 forms

3. Payroll check stubs

4. LA State Plumbing License, City of New Orleans Gas Fitters License or Mechanical License, CFC Certifications and Welding Certifications

5. Social security records

6. IRS records

How do I prepare for the trade?

The following will be helpful:

• Above average reading ability

• Geometry and trigonometry

• Mechanical drawing and blueprint reading

• Physical science

How do I qualify?

The following are necessary:

• At least 18 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Make a qualifying grade on industry based aptitude test
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Pass drug test
